Getting the best results
RallyOnly finds the play by listening for ball strikes and watching for movement on the court, so where you put the phone decides how good the edit is.
- Stand the phone behind the baseline, a few metres back, so both players and the whole court are in frame.
- As high as you can — a fence post or a bag on a bench beats the ground.
- Do not film from the side of the net. Players walking past the lens look exactly like play to any camera.
- Landscape or portrait both work. Landscape is what most of the testing was done on, and it fits the shape of a court.
- Nothing to set for doubles — the app works out how many players are on court from the video itself.
Common questions
How long does an edit take? Roughly a ninth of the recording's length on a recent iPhone — about four minutes for a half-hour session. It is quickest with the app open. You can pick several recordings at once — they are analysed one after another, each into its own session, while you keep using the app. If you switch to another app, iOS may pause the analysis; it carries on by itself when you come back.
Does my video get uploaded? No. Your video never leaves your phone — see the privacy policy.
Why did it miss a rally? Usually the camera angle. If the recording was made from the side of the court, or very close to a player, there is much less for the app to work with. Send us the details and we will look at it.
Why does an old session say the original is gone? The condensed cut and the highlight reel are not saved as separate video files — they play straight out of your original recording, which is why they appear in seconds and take almost no space. Delete that recording from Photos and they have nothing to play. What survives it: rallies you bookmarked (in Saved rallies), collections you generated, and any export made with Keep in this session switched on, which saves it as the session's own file. A video you shared or saved to Photos is a copy in that app, not in RallyOnly.
It says no original is linked. That session was imported before the app had permission to read your photo library, so there is nothing recorded to find the video again. Allow access in Settings › Privacy & Security › Photos, then import the recording once more.
RallyOnly Pro
Is there a free trial? New subscribers can start Pro with a free trial. Its length and the price after it are shown before you confirm, and Apple shows them again in the purchase sheet.
How do I cancel? In iOS Settings › your name › Subscriptions, or from Manage subscription in the app's settings. Cancel at least 24 hours before a trial or a paid period ends and you will not be charged for the next one. Everything you have made stays in the app either way.
I have an offer code. In the app, open Settings › Redeem offer code.
I changed phones and Pro is gone. Settings › Restore purchases, signed in with the same Apple ID you subscribed with.
